Ninth spot still a better finish for under-the-weather Firdaus

New look, new hope Track cyclist Mohd Shah Firdaus Sahrom will now take centrestage in Asian Games assault without Azizulhasni Awang in the field.

PETALING JAYA: National rider Mohd Shah Firdaus Sahrom’s ninth place finish in the men’s keirin event at the World Track Cycling Championships in Ballerup, Denmark, may not have been the ideal finish for him, but it was an improvement despite not being fully fit.

The 28-year-old rider finished fourth in Heat 1 of the semi-finals yesterday, missing the cut to the finals as only the top three cyclists from each heat qualified for the final.
