PETALING JAYA: Malaysia's hopes of advancing to the semi-finals of the AFC Under-23 Championship were dashed after being beaten 2-1 by South Korea in the quarter-finals.

Malaysia showed great character to bounce back from Cho Jae-wan's 1st minute opener with N. Thanabalan's equaliser in the 67th minute but the South Korean got the laugh with Han Seung-gyu scoring the winner in the 85th minute at the Kunshan Stadium in China on Saturday.
