PETALING JAYA: It’s still in the early days for the new Super League season, but Sabah new striker Darren Lok (pic) is on a mission.
Darren wants badly to get on the scoresheet against Kelantan United at the Likas Stadium in Kota Kinabalu today.
In their first match against Police on Friday, the Rhinos won 4-1, with Indonesian winger Saddil Ramdani scoring a brace while the other goals came via Park Tae-su and Stuart Wilkin.
“Of course, as a striker, you always want to score but the main thing was three points and I felt that I contributed in other ways to the team’s performance,” said Darren.
“We had a good start in the game against Police but there are always things to improve on and to do better.
“The first game of the season is never easy, so to collect three points was simply great. We were happy but our attention turns straight to the next game,” he added.
“It’s so important to maintain consistency, so we will be going into the Kelantan United game looking to collect three points and improve further on our last performance.
“It’s still in the early days. We have had only two months together so far, and with every game we play, we are learning more about each other’s game, so I’m sure there is more to come.”
The 31-year-old Darren knows Kelantan United won’t be easy meat especially after a solid performance against Selangor on Sunday.
“We know Kelantan United will be challenging opponents. I feel there aren’t any easy games in this league,” he said.
“They will be organised and have some good experienced players and they made it hard for Selangor despite losing.
“So we know we will have to perform well.”
