PETALING JAYA: To be unbeaten after four matches in the Super League and having scored seven goals ain’t bad at all.
But when that team is Pahang, who are nicknamed the Elephants, they can be accused of not having a big enough appetite for goals and points.
Furthermore, as they are coached by Singaporean legend Fandi Ahmad, winning just once and drawing three so far isn’t quite up to par.
Pahang’s lone frontman Kpah Sherman admits he has a jumbo task ahead as his strike partner Lucas Espindola has been sidelined by injury.
Liberian Sherman has scored two goals but wished he had been on target more times as that would have helped Pahang to more wins.
‘’Playing with one striker is always tricky but it can’t be helped as Lucas is injured. If we had scored more goals, we could have ended up with more wins and a higher position in the league,’’ said the 31-year-old Sherman.
Pahang lie fifth in the standings with six points after four games.
Sherman added that he hopes the other attacking players in the team can chip in with some goals when they take on Perak at the Perak Stadium in Ipoh today.
‘’I hope the others will start scoring as we’ve been creating the chances.
‘‘Of course, I’ll also be out to increase my strike rate.’’
Sherman came to Pahang’s rescue when he scored the equaliser against Sabah at the Darulmakmur Stadium on Sunday.
‘’That goal was precious as it saved us from a home defeat. So, I dedicated it to my wife and newborn son.’’
