PETALING JAYA: Terengganu’s three highly rated hitmen – Ghanaian Jordan Mintah (pic), Thai Adisak Kraisorn and Croatian Ivan Mamutare – are under fire from the fans as they’ve yet to be on target after four matches in the Super League.
The Turtles have only one goal to show so far, and lie seventh in the standings with four points.
But coach Tomislav Steinbruckner has no complaints about his strikers’ displays and believes that they will eventually deliver.
And he hopes one or two of them will finally get on the scoresheet when Terengganu face Negri Sembilan at the Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium in Paroi today.
“I can understand the fans’ expectations, as they are very passionate about their team. But to be fair, the strikers have contributed despite not scoring any goals so far. Good players, when they’re not scoring, are always creating chances and that’s what they’ve been doing,’’ said Steinbruckner.
“Mintah had three chances against Police, and he was unlucky not to score.
‘‘But I believe the goals will be coming soon.’’
Terengganu posted their first win last Saturday with a 1-0 win over Police.
It was also their first goal in four matches and they needed Uzbekistani centreback Sardor Kulmatov, nicknamed Mr Butcher, to score it the 76th minute.
Meanwhile, Negri Sembilan coach K. Devan wants his charges to take full advantage of their home match against Terengganu.
“We need full points to move up and we had ample time to prepare for this match,’’ he said.
