Canaries don’t expect smooth flight against Cats after Police lesson

PETALING JAYA: When it comes to facing underdogs, it has become a case of once bitten, twice shy for Kedah.

And the Canaries would not want to get their wings clipped by taking Kuching City lightly in their Super League match at the Darulaman Stadium in Alor Setar today.

Nafuzi Zain’s men only have to look back on the night of March 4, when they were stunned 1-0 by minnows Police at home.

Kedah’s Argentinian winger Manuel Hidalgo (pic), for one, won’t be expecting a stroll past The Cats.

‘’Kuching City will be a hard game as their players are fighters. So, we don’t see them as underdogs, really,” said the 23-year-old, who featured for Pahang last season.

“For me, there are no more easy games after what happened to us against Police. These teams will play extra hard and will make it difficult for us. They’re ready to step into any stadium and play the game of their lives.’’

As for coach Nafuzi, he has told his charges not to make silly mistakes against Kuching.

‘’We have to take our chances well and not make silly mistakes as doing so will put us under much pressure.’’

Kedah are fourth in the standings with nine points after four matches while Kuching City lie ninth with three points.
