PETALING JAYA: Selangor have a score to settle with Super League leaders Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) in their Super League clash at the Petaling Jaya Stadium today.

Fresh in the Red Giants’ memory is the frustrating 2-1 loss to the Southern Tigers in last year’s Malaysia Cup final at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil.

With a capacity crowd assured, Selangor coach Tan Cheng Hoe is expecting a fiery encounter but has reminded his players to be calm and patient in their quest for a win.

“I’ve told the players to keep their emotions in check during tense situations, which are to be expected in a game like this. I don’t want to see any of them getting red cards,’’ he said.

“I believe they can hold their own against JDT, even though they have the edge.’’

Cheng Hoe admits that JDT have been in imperious form so far, having scored 17 goals and conceded just one after four matches.

“JDT have quality in every department. They have many experienced players who played in the ACL (Asian Champions League), and many national players too.

“Jordi Amat has been impressive as captain, and Juan Muniz has shown creativity. Endrick (dos Santos), Diogo (Santo) and Arif (Aiman Hanapi) have looked sharp.”

Meanwhile, JDT coach Esteban Solaris is looking forward to an exciting game of football against Selangor.

“We played a memorable Malaysia Cup final last year and I expect another entertaining match which the fans will enjoy,’’ he said.

“Selangor have a lot of quality players, and they intend to fight for the league title. So we know what we’ll be up against.’’
