PETALING JAYA: Kedah have the opportunity to avenge their defeat to Penang in the FA Cup when both sides clash at the Darul Aman Stadium tonight.

In the FA Cup last month, the Canaries were beaten 3-4 on penalties by the Panthers after both teams drew 2-2 at the end of regulation time.

Kedah coach Nafuzi Zain said despite facing their northern rivals in the Super League this time, his players need to continue to focus on the mission to get a win.

Nafuzi added it is important for his charges to continue the good momentum, as they are currently second in the Super League.

Kedah are tied with Selangor and Sabah on 13 points but boast a better goal difference.

“We need to stay focused while making sure not to repeat the mistakes made in the last FA Cup tie,” he said.

“We don’t want to be disappointed for the second time at home.

“We know that Penang are a good team and they have experienced players who can be hard to contain.

“We cannot drop points if we want to remain in the top rung of the league.’’

Nafuzi added he is also in the process of trying to improve several aspects of Kedah’s game including attack and defence.

“We have identified some areas that need to be improved on. What is needed now is consistency, as we must be ready for the tougher challenges later.

“In terms of attacking style, we were a bit blunt when we played against Pahang last week but I believe that for this home match, we will improve and make the fans happy.

“The return of naturalised player Lee Tuck in the centre position after recovering from injury will also add more depth to the team.’’
