PETALING JAYA: Perak were made to look like schoolboys by Johor Darul Taz’im (JDT) in their home turf in Ipoh on Tuesday night.

The Southern Tigers bagged a 5-0 win and the Perak team chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Azim Mohd Zabidi later had to apologise to their supporters for the thrashing.

He said that while JDT are giants with a high-quality squad, that’s not an excuse for the Seladang to lose heavily.

“A big defeat without a fight or a challenge is unacceptable for the fans. Unfortunately, our team have been hit with many injuries, which made the coach unable to list the best 11,’’ he said.

“Our main player is coming back from injury but then tonight, we lost another key man in South Korean striker Seo Seo-nung as he had to be taken off in the second half with a serious injury.’’

It was the fourth defeat for Perak in seven matches and Azim said they will evaluate the squad’s ability during the mid-season transfer window.

He also expressed his condolences to Perak supporters who were involved in a road accident that claimed their lives after the match.

“On behalf of the management, the coaching staff and the players, I express my condolences and pray for the victims’ family to persevere in facing this great test.

“Once again, we appreciate the support of Perak’s loyal fans who come every week to support The Bos Gaurus. Thank you Perak FC supporters.”
