Police can ‘park the bus’ but they can’t bust JDT

PETALING JAYA: Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) coach Esteban Solari (pic) is expecting the Police team to use the “park the bus” tactic when the two teams clash again – this time in the Super League at the Petaling Jaya City Council Stadium (MBPJ) tonight.

The Argentine coach believes the Cops, handled by Azzmi Aziz, will adopt a defensive style of play just like during their FA Cup round of 16 clash last week.

The Southern Tigers won 3-0 to book their place in the quarter finals.

Solari is expecting Police to camp in their own area again, and form a line of five or six players at the back.

“In a football game, this tactic is allowed, so I can’t complain. Instead, I have to focus on getting the players to perform without pressure and try to get a good flow going while maintaining our consistency because this match is important for us,” said Solari.

Solari added he may field many young players who have less playing minutes.

“We have no problem fielding the young players because at JDT, we have the depth in the squad.

“If there is an opportunity for a player with less playing minutes, of course I will list them to play in the starting line-up, especially the young players but it depends on the tactical approach.

“After all, the 27 players in the team are capable of playing in the starting 11,” he added.

JDT have not dropped any points after eight matches and are sitting pretty at the top with 24 points. JDT have only conceded one goal while scoring 36.
