Elephants stomp their feet to winning rhythm at Terengganu

Twist and shout: Pahang striker Kpah Sherman and manager Dollah Salleh dancing in the dressing room.

PETALING JAYA: The Elephants are having a jumbo party after grabbing their sixth win of the season and staying unbeaten after 10 games in the Super League.

Pahang’s unbridled joy was perfectly captured in a video of Kpah Sherman and manager Datuk Dollah Salleh dancing in the dressing room after their 2-1 win over Terengganu at the Sultan Mizan Stadium in Gong Badak on Friday.

Captain Sergio Aguero, who recorded the video which has gone viral, said the team are in a buoyant mood as they now aim to keep their unbeaten record for as long as possible.

“The dance video shows the spirit and the unity of the team. This win is important as Pahang had not beaten Terengganu on their home ground for a long time,’’ said the naturalised Argentine player, who has won four caps with Malaysia.

Pahang’s last away win over the Turtles was on May 1, 2018.

Aguero attributed Pahang’s good run to the team’s hard work done during the pre-season.

‘’We entered this season well prepared and the players are highly motivated and eager to prove themselves, thanks to the coach (Fandi Ahmad) and management.’’

In the match against Terengganu, Pahang drew first blood through striker Sherman in the 30th minute but the hosts equalised through forward Ivan Mamut nine minutes later.

Midfielder Nor Azam Azih turned match winner for Pahang with a long-range effort in the 68th minute, following an assist from Aguero.

Pahang are now third in the standings with 22 points after 10 games.

The league takes a two-week break until May 18 for the SEA Games in Cambodia, but the grind continues for Pahang as they seek more wins when the season resumes.

Aguero said they would make good use of the break to stay sharp and keep improving for better results.

‘’We can’t take anything for granted despite our good run as there’s always room for improvement.”
