13-year-old Aqil for JDT Academy

JOHOR BARU: Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) have announced the signing of Tereng–ganu’s young talented player Mohd Aqil Mohd Shamsul Aswadi.

“The teenager will join the JDT Academy, which is one of the full-time professional football academies that offer football training, education and accommodation,” the club posted on the Johor Southern Tigers’ Facebook page.

JDT also uploaded several photographs of the skilful footballer with his family members as well as JDT chief executive officer Alistair Edwards.

Previously, video clips of the 13-year-old had gone viral depicting him showing off his silky skills against much older players.

Edwards was recently quoted as saying that there was a very encouraging response during the JDT Academy trial session at the JDT Junior Training Centre in Padang Mawar on May 12. — Bernama
