Timely win for Turtles to catch up

KUALA NERUS: Terengganu head coach Tomislav Steinbruckner was a happy man after watching his players eke out a narrow 1-0 win over Penang in a Super League match.

The Croatian said the three points collected at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium on Wednesday could not have come at a better time, which saw the Turtles climb up a spot to seventh in the league table.

While Steinbruckner felt Terengganu deserved the win, he hoped his charges will play with more consistency from now on.

“What is more important is that we managed to collect three points against Penang. It is a good situation after the last two matches when we lost (to Pahang) and drew against Sabah,” he said.

Steinbruckner reserved special praise for substitutes Nik Sharif Haseefy Mohd Lazim and Engku Nur Shakir Engku Yaacob whom he said changed the pace of Terengganu’s game after coming on in the second half. Shakir went on to score the winning goal. — Bernama
