PETALING JAYA: Pahang coach Fandi Ahmad is a hard man to please.

His team took over third spot from Kedah in the Super League following a 5-0 win over Kelantan at the Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium in Kota Baru on Friday but Fandi was ruing a limp showing in the first half.

Argentinian captain Sergio Aguero scored in the seventh minute to give Pahang an early start but had to wait until the second half before the goals came through defender Mohd Fadhli Mohd Shas and Liberian striker Kpah Sherman who scored a brace each.

It was the second consecutive win for Pahang following their 4-3 win over Negri Sembilan on June 9. Pahang, with 31 points, are third followed by Kedah, who have 28 points and one game in hand.

Kelantan are languishing in last place with four points after their 12th straight loss of the season.

Fandi felt they could have scored a few more goals in the first half.

“We went through a tough time at the start against a side that did not have imports. The outcome could have been better,” said Fandi.

“Kelantan created a lot of attacks but were let down by poor finishing. If they had scored a goal or two, the outcome could have been different for us,” said Fandi, admitting they lacked the services of key players like Nor Azam Azih, Filipino Kevin Ingreso and Brazilian Lucas Silva who are still recovering from injuries.

“We need fresh players in midfield and attack, so we will try to solve this problem during the July transfer window,” added the former Singapore international.

Meanwhile, Police moved to seventh spot in the standings after a 2-1 win over Perak at the Perak Stadium in Ipoh. Police have 22 points while Perak, who suffered their fifth defeat in a row, remain in 11th spot with nine points.
