PETALING JAYA: Striker Ifedayo Olusegun scored his first goal for Kedah but he was far from satisfied.
The Nigerian knows he has to do a lot more if he wants to be a real cog for the Canaries in the Super League.
On Sunday, the Nigerian striker scored his first goal in the 81st minute when he buried a penalty while Lee Tuck added the second in the 90th minute, also a penalty, as they took Police down 2-0 at the Petaling Jaya Stadium.
Olusegun, who has plied his trade with Selangor, Felda United and Melaka, was happy to get off to a good start with Kedah.
“I feel grateful and happy. The Kedah fans came here all the way from Alor Setar. It’s nice to get the three points in front of them,” he said.
“I’m learning, I’ve to be patient and understand the chemistry in the team.
“Sometimes it will take a few games to understand the players. We will improve the understanding and chemistry in the team.”
Coach Nafuzi Zain was also happy with the fine start by Nigerian midfielder Moses Atede.
“He just joined us, so we can see he is taking his time to work on his chemistry. At times he looked awkward but he will come good, we know his quality,” said Nafuzi.
“He made some good passes and was a smart interceptor. Moses will only get stronger as the season progresses, so we are not too worried.”
Kedah are fourth in the league with 31 points, while Police are eighth with 22 points.
