PETALING JAYA: Uzbekistan international Nurillo Tukhtasinov (pic) can’t wait to wear Terengganu’s jersey for the first time when the Super League action resumes this weekend.
Terengganu will parade their new signing from the second transfer window when they take on Police in the Super League match at the Petaling Jaya Council Stadium this Sunday.
The 26-year-old midfielder said that he wants to experience playing in the Malaysian League for himself because he had only heard about it from his compatriots before.
Tukhtasinov’s countryman Sardor Kulmatov has also featured for Terengganu in a defensive position since the beginning of this season.
“I’m so excited after getting an offer from Terengganu. I want to experience playing in the Malaysian League for the first time, as many of my compatriots are also playing here,” said Tukhtasinov, who is expected to partner captain Habib Haroon in Terengganu’s midfield.
“Of course, I can’t wait to make my first appearance with Terengganu. I’m determined to give my best performance every time I’m sent out.
“I also hope to be able to adapt quickly to my teammates to ensure we win matches.’’
The former Neftchi Fergana player in the Uzbek League signed a contract for 18 months until the end of next year to fill the quota of imported players on Monday.
Terengganu Football Club Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Ab Rasid Jusoh said Tukhtasinov has an excellent record and was once named the best midfielder in the Uzbekistan League.
Standing only 1.72m, Tukhtasinov has been given the No. 26 jersey, which coincides with his age.
“His presence is expected to have a positive impact on the club in the Super League, Malaysia Cup and Asian Confederation Cup (AFC), which is expected to start in September,” Ab Rasid said.
