Haroon vows to get Turtles going to appease angry fans

PETALING JAYA: Bahraini midfielder Habib Haroon hopes to appease Terengganu fans by helping the Turtles finish in the top five of the Super League.

The fans were utterly disappointed after Terengganu drew 0-0 with Police at the Petaling Jaya Stadium on Sunday and demanded that the team improve their displays.

Terengganu are currently sixth in the league with 25 points, eight points behind fifth-placed Sabah.

Haroon has promised to deliver.

“The fans want more. Home or away matches, they are always there for us but I wish we can do well in every game. They believe we can do more,” said the 24-year-old.

“Sometimes in football, you do everything right but luck deserts you. We apologised to our fans after the game. We got an away point but most importantly, no one was injured.”

Haroon said it was tough to overcome Police as they had great tactical discipline.

“Police are disciplined, a good team. They have no stars but always come up with good results.

“The league is competitive these days. Teams in the relegation zone can pull off a surprise.”

Haroon and Co have nine more games to live up to the expectations of the fans to finish at least in the top five when the season ends.
