PETALING JAYA: Selangor are wary of the huge Sabah threat in their Super League clash today.

The Red Giants, who hope to strengthen their grip on second spot, will not have it easy against the Rhinos who are brimming with confidence after their 4-0 thrashing of Pahang last weekend.

Selangor coach Tan Cheng Hoe would have taken pointers from the game as he wants his side to continue their winning run after beating Penang 3-0 last week.

“Sabah had a comfortable win against Pahang. You can see how solid their defence is and their attack looked sharp too lately,” said Cheng Hoe.

He realises that Sabah have quality in every department, especially in attack and defence and he had a special mention for one of their new signings.

“Their new signing Ramon Machado has added some quality to their attack and you can see his last two performances for them. We have to be ready for any formation or tactics.

“As for Selangor, the atmosphere before this game has been good. The boys are motivated to face Sabah and whoever is selected will give their best.”

Goalkeeper Samuel Somerville said it is a game that could determine their fate this season.

Selangor are second in the league with 37 points, while Sabah, also chasing for the top three spots, are fifth with 33 points and if they win will just be behind Selangor by a point.

“Another big match ahead of us. The one that can determine our fate this season. We must win, no other result.”
