No sunny Sunday for Perak ahead of clash with Pahang

PETALING JAYA: It looks like it’s going to be Sunday blues for Perak.

The northern side will not have the services of Nigerian midfielder Sunday Afolabi for the game against Pahang at the Darul Makmur Stadium today.

He is reportedly out with an injury, which is a blow for the Seladang.

But instead of lamenting, Perak captain Luciano Guaycochea said the team have to move ahead and believe in the other players at their disposal.

“Yes, Sunday has been with us most of the time but we have other players who can fill in for him. For us, we will prepare to give a good account of ourselves against Pahang,” said the Argentinian.

As for the game against Pahang, Guaycochea said their confidence is high after their win over Kuching City.

He believes Perak have what it takes to go for another win despite Pahang being fourth in the league with 34 points.

“After the game against Kuching, the vibes changed and we can see the players are going into training with lots of confidence.

“Pahang are in a good position in the league, no doubt but we have to look after ourselves and believe in what we can do on the pitch.

“We want to move out of the relegation zone and be in the top 10, so a win is a must.”

Perak are 11th in the league with 13 points.
