PETALING JAYA: Harimau Muda are off to a winning start in the Asean Football Federation (AFF) Under-23 Championship after beating Indonesia 2-1 at the Rayong Provincial Stadium on Friday (Aug 18).

Striker Fergus Tierney was the hero for the Malaysian Under-23 team, scoring in the 53rd and 62nd minute.

His outing was special as he was only brought on in the second half, replacing Harith Akif Shahar.

Bringing the 20-year-old proved to be an inspiring one as he caused lots of problems for the Indonesian defence.

Indonesia drew first blood in the 28th minute when striker Ramadhan Sananta scored a superb solo goal beating two defenders.
