Adisak’s the extra weapon Turtles need to unsettle Red Giants

PETALING JAYA: The return of Thailand striker Adisak Kraisorn will provide more ammunition for Terengganu when they take on Selangor in their Malaysia Cup first-leg quarter-final at the Sultan Mizan Stadium in Gong Badak today.

The 32-year-old has been sidelined for almost two months due to a hamstring injury and missed the two-leg last-16 tie against M3 club KL Rovers.

In all competitions so far, Adisak has played 14 matches, scoring three goals and providing two assists.

The former Muangthong United player was roped in by coach Tomislav Steinbruckner to not only score goals but also to create chances for the other marksman, Croatian Ivan Mamut who is the team’s leading scorer with 15 goals in all competitions.

Steinbruckner believes Adisak’s timely return will help the Turtles get the goals against Selangor.

‘’Adisak will make an important contribution, whether he starts or is brought on as a substititute. His return will boost the team’s confidence when they take on a team like Selangor,’’ said the Croatian.

Steinbruckner is also pleased with the improvement of playmaker Engku Mohd Nur Shakir Engku Yacob, who has five goals and three assists from 19 matches, in all domestic tournaments.

“He has improved a lot and deserves to win the best player of the month award. He is a player who always gives his best when he gets the opportunity.”

After the game against Selangor, Terengganu will face Australian side Central Coast Mariners in their first Group G game of the AFC Cup at the Sultan Mizan Stadium on Sept 20.
