PETALING JAYA: Johor Darul Ta'zim have qualified for their fourth consecutive Malaysia Cup final after annihilating Perak 12-2 on aggregate in the two-legged semi-final of the competition.
After beating the Seladang 4-1 on aggregate in the first leg, the Southern Tigers turned up the heat in the second by thrashing them 8-1 at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium on Thursday (Nov 2).
Brazilian strikers Bergson Da Silva (27th and 58th minutes) and Heberty Fernandes (30th, 90th) and substitute striker Syafiq Ahmad (61st, 76th) were the stars of the show by scoring a double each.
Winger Arif Aiman Hanapi also impressed by scoring the first goal in the 11th minute and providing four assists during the game.
Argentinian striker Fernando Forestieri scored the other goal in the 51st minute. Substitute midfielder Firdaus Ahmad Fuad scored Perak's consolation in the 92nd minute.
JDT had beaten Selangor 2-1 in the final last year.
In 2021, they lost to Kuala Lumpur 0-2 in the final, and in 2019, they beat Kedah 3-0.
Last year, they swept all the domestic titles - Charity Shield, FA Cup, Super League and Malaysia Cup. This year, they have won the Charity Shield, FA Cup and Super League.
