PETALING JAYA: Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) kept their hopes alive of advancing to the knock-out stage of the AFC Champions League when they overcame Ulsan Hyundai 2-1 in Seri Iskandar on Tuesday (Nov 7).
Brazilian Heberty Fernandes put JDT ahead in the 44th minute but South Korean side Ulsan found the equaliser through Ataru Esaka in the 69th minute.
National striker Akhyar Rashid scored JDT the winning goal in the 87th minute to give the home side a 2-1 win in Group I at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium.
The win was a perfect reply from JDT who had lost 1-3 to Ulsan in an away game on Oct 24.
In another group match, Kawasaki Frontale from Japan overcame Thai club Pathum United 4-2 to secure their fourth win in as many matches.
