PETALING JAYA: The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) will extend the contract of national coach Kim Pan-gon until 2025.
The 54-year-old South Korean will sign a new two-year contract, said FAM president Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin.
"He is someone who gives his fullest commitment. That is why we want him to continue as coach and do something special for Malaysia," said Hamidin.
Pan-gon took over the reins of the team last year after Tan Cheng Hoe stepped down.
Under Pan-gon, Harimau Malaya has recorded 17 wins, two draws and six defeats and are now ranked 137th in the world.
Pan-gon is on track to steer the team to the third round of the World Cup 2026 qualifiers after beating Kyrgyzstan 4-3 in their opening Group D match of the World Cup 2026-Asian Cup 2027 second-round qualifiers.
