Police extend contracts of Awad and Min Oo after forceful displays

PETALING JAYA: After a decent season in the Super League, Police have extended the stays of two key foreign players – Jordanian midfielder Fadi Awad and Myanmar wingback Kyaw Min Oo.

Awad has signed a two-year deal while Min Oo will play for another season.

The 30-year-old Awad has been a standout for the Cops in the last two years due to his commanding displays as a defensive midfielder.

Standing at only 1.67m, the diminutive Awad has one of the highest workrates in the Super League.

The former Al-Wehdat player is an aggressive enforcer who has saved the Police on quite a number of occasions with his crucial interceptions, and impressed with his incisive passing during attacking transitions.

Awad, a former police sergeant in Jordan, is delighted to stay on with the club.

“I love the environment here and last season, we performed well despite the club’s small budget,” said Awad, who will feature in the Asian Cup for Jordan.

“I look forward to even better seasons with the club for the next two years.”

As for the 27-year-old Min Oo, who has played for clubs like Yangon United and Ayeyawady United, he has been a vital cog for Police thanks to his set-piece abilities.

He is also adept at playing as a centreback and defensive midfielder.

Apart from his fine technique, his overlapping runs and superb reading have caught the eye.

“We will take the good things we’ve achieved from last season and continue fighting for a better finish,” said Min Oo, who has 28 caps with Myanmar.
