Football: Harimau Malaya beaten 4-0 by Jordan in Asia Cup

PETALING JAYA: A whimper of a start for Malaysia.

Harimau Malaya got off to a poor start in the Asian Cup after they were thrashed 4-0 by Jordan in their opening Group E match at the Al-Janoub Stadium in Doha, Qatar on Monday (Jan 15).

Wingers Mahmoud Al-Mardi (12th and 32nd minute) and Mousa Al-Tamari (18th and 85th) were the heroes for the Chivalrous Ones, with each scoring a double.

In the other Group E match, South Korea beat Bahrain 3-1, with winger Lee Kang-in starring with two beautiful goals.

Kim Pan-gon’s side will next take on Bahrain at the Jassim Hamad Stadium on Jan 20, while Jordan will take on tournament favourites South Korea at the Al-Thumama Stadium, also on the same date.
