(Reuters) - England international Jude Bellingham suffered an ankle sprain during Saturday's 4-0 victory over Girona, Real Madrid said on Sunday.
The injured midfielder left the field in the 57th minute, soon after scoring his second goal of the night in the top-of-the-table clash where leaders Real went five points clear with the win.
"After the tests carried out today by the Real Madrid medical services, our player Jude Bellingham has been diagnosed with a high grade sprain in his left ankle," the club said in a statement.
Bellingham leads the scoring chart in LaLiga this season with 16 goals, which is double the goals scored by Real's second-most prolific scorer Rodrygo.
Real, who have 61 points from 24 matches, visit Rayo Vallecano on Feb. 18.
