Arif Aiman bags five awards in the Malaysian Football Awards


PETALING JAYA: Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) and national winger Arif Aiman Hanapi (pic) proved unstoppable in the 2023 Malaysian Football Awards, winning five awards, including the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award.

It was his third consecutive MVP award after he won it in 2021 and 2022. He also won the best striker and best young player awards for the third consecutive time.

This is his first best goal award since making his debut in 2020 in the Super League with the Southern Tigers.

He also won the top local goalscorer award (12 goals) together with Selangor winger Faisal Halim.

"I am honoured to receive these awards. Last year was a challenging year, but we persevered by winning all the domestic trophies," said Arif.

The other JDT players who won awards were striker Bergson Da Silva (best import player), goalkeeper Ahmad Syihan Hazmi (best goalkeeper), and midfielder Afiq Fazail (best midfielder). The team also won the best team award.

Terengganu defender Azam Azmi Murad won the best defender award, while former Selangor striker Ayron Del Valle won the top goalscorer award (32 goals).

Former Selangor coach Tan Cheng Hoe won the best coach award.
