PETALING JAYA: It was the best of starts for Selangor and they can take heart with the solidarity shown by their loyal fans for Faisal Halim.

The Red Giants got their first Super League win of the season by beating rivals Kedah 1-0 at the Petaling Jaya Stadium on Saturday (May 18).

The game was a sellout as a sea of Red and Yellow descended on the stadium.

Before the kickoff, the Selangor Ultras unveiled a "tifo" (huge banner) of Faisal doing the "siuuu" celebration made famous by Cristiano Ronaldo.

Not only that, during the seventh minute of the game, the fans took part in a standing ovation and clapped to show their love for the player who wore the number seven jersey.

The match was cagey in the first-half as both sides were cautious with their movements and chances.

In the second-half, things were still at a standstill but the inclusion of substitutes Reziq Bani Hani and Aliff Haiqal Lau galvanised the Red Giantsʼ attack.

Aliff was the hero for Selangor by scoring in the 85th minute and capped it off with Faisal’s celebration in front of the Selangor ultras.

There were no untoward incidents before and after the game as Selangor placed several security marshalls at the stands.
