PETALING JAYA: It was a three-year wait but one that was worth it for Pahang’s Adam Nor Azlin.
The centreback broke his goal-scoring duck in the Super League as he helped Pahang hold Kuching City 2-2 at the State Stadium in Kuching yesterday.
The 28-year-old revealed that the last time he scored in the league was for Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) in 2021, and since then, he has not had many minutes. Subsequently, he moved to Pahang to seek a change in fortune.
“It feels good, really, really good to score after a while. Scoring is one thing, but getting to start in the Super League is another. So I am glad to have helped Pahang stage a strong fightback to snatch a point,” said the former Harimau Muda captain.
“I would like to thank the coaching staff for believing in me, and not to forget, my teammates who gave their all to end the match with a point.”
Kuching City drew first blood when veteran Ivorian striker Tchetche Kipre scored from a tight angle in the 18th minute after benefiting from a chest pass from Brazilian playmaker Pedro Henrique in the penalty box.
The home side then got their second when substitute winger Alauddin Farid Atan produced a superb cross from the right, in which Ghanaian striker Jordan Mintah capitalised with a glancing header in the 45th minute.
Pahang’s first-half performance was not the best but it all changed after coach Fandi Ahmad gave them a talk during half-time.
They reduced the deficit in the 62nd minute, thanks to Adam who finished off a superb free kick from Argentinian winger Manuel Hidalgo and finally, Hidalgo finished off a cross from Nor Azam Azih in the 73rd minute for the equaliser.
