Legend Chong Wei believes Faisal will only return stronger

Datuk Lee Chong Wei arriving at the Putrajaya Hospital to visit the badminton players and officials who were involved in a fatal road accident on Maju Expressway.

PETALING JAYA: National badminton legend Datuk Lee Chong Wei has urged national footballer Faisal Halim to be patient with his recovery after an acid attack on May 5.

The former world No. 1 conveyed his wishes to the 26-year-old on his social media platforms, saying that the Selangor player would only come back stronger.

"Be strong, Faisal Halim. Everything happens for a reason. You will be back even stronger," he said.

"Sabar (be patient) and believe. Focus on your recovery and return Faisal."

Faisal, fondly known as Mickey, made his first public appearance on Thursday (June 13), laying bare the horror that he has had to live with for more than a month now.

He was attacked by unidentified men with acid at a shopping mall in Damansara on May 5. He suffered burns on his face and left arm.

Chong Wei is no stranger to adversity as he went through injuries, doping issues and cancer, so his advice to Faisal is timely as the latter looks to return to the game as soon as possible.
