PETALING JAYA: It was an evening to remember for Selangor winger Faisal Halim.

After his acid attack at a shopping mall in Damansara on May 5, the 26-year-old made his first appearance at the Petaling Jaya Stadium and his mates did not disappoint.

In front of the charismatic player who they fondly call Mickey, the Red Giants pummelled Negri Sembilan 4-0 in their FA Cup round-of-16 match yesterday.

When Faisal and his family arrived at the stadium, the whole stadium roared and he even took time to wave at the fans.

The most heartwarming part was when the national player hugged his son in the stands.

With Faisal in sight, Selangor came out with guns blazing to give their star a show to remember.

Selangor coach Nidzam Jamil said: “We saw Mickey coming before the match. The smile on his face, that gave us a lot of happiness. The players and I would like to tell him, we can’t wait for your quick return. The family waits for you.

“As for the game, whatever problems posed by Negri, we dealt with it well. We didn’t anticipate an early goal but the process we followed got us the goals.

“I’m also happy to give minutes to Harith (Haiqal Adam Afkar), Ahmad Zikri Khalili, Q (Quentin Cheng) and Nonet (Aliff Haiqal Lau) because, during the international break, their training was top quality.”

Selangor will take on Kuching City in the quarter-finals in a two-legged tie.
