PETALING JAYA: Former Liverpool legends Patrik Berger and Vladimir Smicer are in agreement that incoming manager Arne Slot is the right man for the job.

Smicer, who used to play for Czech side Slavia Praha from 1992 to 1996, said his former club lost twice to Slot’s Feyenoord Rotterdam recently.

"He (Slot) did a great job for Feyenoord. My former club Slavia Praha played against them in the Europa Conference League.

"I saw how he worked with the team and they had beaten us twice, so, of course, I was not happy, but he's good," said Smicer during a meet and greet party at the Tropicana Golf & Country Club on Wednesday (June 19).

With Dutchman Slot incoming to replace Juergen Klopp, who had been at the helm at Anfield for nine years, Berger said the news did come as a surprise, but wished the German manager well for the future.

"Klopp has done a great job at the club for nine years and brought everything that he could.

"Liverpool will always be Liverpool, and it has been a great football club under Klopp. Good luck to him in the future because he’s a living legend.

"It’s not easy to take after Klopp but Slot will be a great manager," said Berger.

The legends were in town to celebrate the launch of Carlsberg’s first-ever Digital Football League, offering punters an unmatched opportunity to flaunt their skills and snag unparalleled prizes, including an all-expenses-paid experience at Anfield.

Consumers can make their way to selected hypermarkets and grab two six-pack cans of Carlsberg Danish Pilsner or Carlsberg Smooth Draught for a single game, or head to the bar to secure two games with a minimum purchase of RM150.

The first place winner gets RM10,000 and the runner-up will get RM5,000. Five third-place winners will each get RM1,000.
