Perak aim to get out of rut to win fans’ support again

PETALING JAYA: Perak aim to regain the support of their fans with a winning performance at their next home game in the Super League.

They will play Penang in the northern deby clash on July 13 at the Perak Stadium in Ipoh.

The fans are running out of patience after their club had only one win in the Super League so far.

In the four games played, the Seladang beat Kedah 2-0 but lost to Terengganu (1-3), Sabah (2-3) and at the recent game on Sunday, they went down 1-2 to Selangor.

Selangor took the lead but Perak worked hard to get a point and managed to reduce the deficit through Nur Azfar Fikri Azhar, who was brought in at the 70th minute at the Petaling Jaya Stadium.

But Selangor hit again and Perak just could not score the equaliser.Azfar impressed with his energy and movement but cut a desolate figure after the final whistle.

“We have improved in terms of game plans and possessions since our first game, we have grown as a team but there is no results,” said Azfar.

“We had a good control of the game against Selangor but it wasn’t enough. All we need to do now is to be more consistent and I believe, it should lead us to a win.”

Coach Yusri Che Lah (pic) praised Azfar but admitted that his players had theirs ups and downs.

“Azfar gave his best as a substitute together with Sunday (Afolabi) and the rest. They played important roles but if we had taken our chances in the first half, the script would have been a bit different,” said Yusri.

“I made some changes but yet we still lost.

“We should not be ashamed of the performance. We gave our opponents too much space in the first half.

“We came to Petaling Jaya to play attacking football. Sadly, we gave away goals to our opponents. I am not going to blame the players, they are human.”

“We will work on our defence to bounce back stronger in our next match.”
