PETALING JAYA: The Selangor Solidarity Fund, which was set up on Wednesday (June 26) to assist the club in paying their fine to the Malaysian Football League (MFL), has collected over RM40,000 as of Friday (June 28) evening.
Selangor youth, sports, and entrepreneurship committee chairman Najwan Halimi took to social media to share the news, announcing that the crowdfunding campaign had raised RM40.843.02.
"For everyone’s information, the total amount of donations that have been received for the Selangor Solidarity Fund since June 26 is RM40,843.02.
"Thank you to all the contributors from all across the country who have shown support and solidarity to Selangor," he said on X.
Selangor had been fined RM100,000 for refusing to play their Charity Shield match against Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) on May 10, after winger Faisal Halim suffered an acid attack five days earlier.
However, the MFL board of directors reduced Selangor’s fine to RM60,000 following an angry outburst from Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, who slammed the league for the harsh fine.
MFL also reversed the ban on spectators attending the match between home side Selangor and JDT at the Petaling Jaya City Council Stadium and the three-point deduction.
Najwan added that even a donation of RM1 is encouraged as it is more than just the amount that matters.
"This is not just about giving money but providing a platform for fans of Selangor and football to show solidarity with the club,” he said.
Untuk makluman semua, jumlah sumbangan yang telah diterima untuk Tabung Solidariti Bersama Selangor FC bermula dari 26 Jun hingga setakat jam 5.00 petang ini adalah sebanyak RM40,843.02.
