Terengganu off to a flyer in FA Cup quarter-final


PETALING JAYA: Terengganu showed they mean business in the FA Cup by thrashing Borneo giants Sabah 4-0 in the first-leg quarter-final at the Sultan Mizan Stadium in Gong Badak on Friday (June 28).

The Turtles were truly rampant in front of their home crowd, especially in the first half, scoring four goals.

Nigerian striker Ismaheel Akinade was the toast with goals in the 37th and 45th minutes. The other goals were scored by Filipino international midfielder Manny Ott (Ninth) and Croatian midfielder Marin Pilj (42nd).

The second leg will be held at the Likas Stadium in Kota Kinabalu on July 6.

In Georgetown, Kedah took the upper hand in the quarter-final after beating home side Penang 1-0 at the City Stadium on Friday (June 28).

Midfielder Hasbullah Abu Bakar was the hero, scoring in the 73rd minute.

The second leg will be held at the Darulaman Stadium in Alor Stadium on July 5.
