Azam’s determined as ever after return from injury

PETALING JAYA: Terengganu defender Azam Azmi Murad is determined to regain his best form after finally being given the confidence to return to full action in the FA Cup quarter-final first leg match against Sabah on June 28.

Azam was back in the starting line-up with the team after being plagued by a leg injury and was able to play for 90 minutes to help Terengganu secure a valuable 4-0 win over the Rhinos.

The 23-year-old has not given up on regaining his fitness level after recovery and will continue to work to ensure that he continues to perform, especially on the FA Cup stage.

The return leg will take place at the Likas Stadium this Saturday.

“Alhamdulillah every day I am more and more motivated to continue training and give my best on the field after a long time off due to injury,” he said.

“I will not waste the opportunity given by the coach every time I play and I didn’t think I would be able to play the whole match to help Terengganu get the win.

“Anyway, I’m still not satisfied and need to work harder to get the best momentum as usual. The most important thing is to avoid any more injuries after this.’’

Terengganu may have a comfortable lead but Azam expects a different situation playing at Likas Stadium and warned that it will be foolish to underestimate the ability of Datuk Ong Kim Swee’s men.

“Even though we already have four goals to take to Sabah, we still have 90 minutes to ensure that victory belongs to Terengganu as well as qualify for the semi-finals.

“Anything can happen and of course Sabah are more eager to get back up and will not give us an easy path.

“But I believe that we will be alert and will not make simple mistakes in the match later,” he explained.
