PETALING JAYA: Is national coach Kim Pan-gon set to step down?

Talk is swirling that the South Korean could move on after the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) announced a "special press conference" would be held at their headquarters at 2pm Tuesday (July 16).

Some South Korean social media sites have speculated that the 55-year-old could quit the national team.

After the World Cup 2026 second-round qualifiers, Pan-gon said he wants to stay on and help Malaysia get to the Asian Cup in 2027 but said the final decision on his future rests in the hands of the leaders in FAM, particularly president Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin.
