Football: Selangor maintain unbeaten run after 4-1 win over Penang


PETALING JAYA: Selangor maintained their unbeaten home record in the Super League by beating Penang 4-1 at the Petaling Jaya Stadium at the Petaling Jaya Stadium on Saturday (July 27).

Winger Mukhairi Ajmal Mahadi drew first blood for Selangor as early as the third minute. Penang then equalised through Brazilian centreback and captain Rafael Vitor in the 61st minute.

The home side got the second through Venezuelan playmaker Yohandry Orozco in the 69th minute and Alvin Fortes scored the third goal in the 89th minute.

Substitute wingback Quentin Cheng got the final goal of the match and Selangor’s fourth in the 97th minute.

Selangor’s other home victories this season were against Kedah (1-0), Negri Sembilan (4-0) and Perak (2-1). They are currently second in the league with 12 points from six matches. Penang are ninth with six points.

In Cheras, Kuala Lumpur were held 0-0 by Pahang at the Cheras Football Stadium.
