PETALING JAYA: Liberian hotshot striker Kpah Sherman was missing and Pahang missed the mark in the last two Super League matches.
In the absence of Sherman, who was injured, Pahang struggled upfront and that saw them finishing with draws against Kuala Lumpur (0-0) and Selangor (1-1) respectively last month.
The Elephants muffed up many chances and it was evident that the frontline lacked swagger.
But the 32-year-old Sherman is back to put Pahang in their winning ways again when they take on Sabah in the Super League at the Temerloh Stadium today.
Sherman was out for two weeks due to a dislocated spine and only returned for full training four days ago.
“For two weeks, it was difficult to sit down because of my spine condition and I was not able to train with my mates. I missed football but now that I am back, I am eager to help the team again,” said Sherman.
“I have trained for four days, so I am feeling good and ready to be part of the team again. We are facing a pretty good team.
“Sabah are a side that always fight for the top spots in the Super League. We have to get our momentum again by winning and scoring goals.”
Sherman has not had the best of starts in the league as he did not score in the first four games of the season.
He had seven shots but believes the dry spell will end soon.
“It may not be normal for a striker but it is just a matter of time before the goals start coming,” said Sherman.
“I would not say that I’m having a tough season yet because we have just played six, while in my case, I played four league games.
“Our pre-season did not start early and we came in a little late compared to other teams but we will get back on track.”
Sherman also went on to add that he needs to work on his chemistry with the other attackers again, but after watching several games, he believes that work can be done fast.
The other first-choice attackers in the Pahang team are Ukrainian winger Mykola Ahapov, Argentinian winger Manuel Hidalgo and playmaker Sergio Aguero.
