Expect Tan of fun as footballer Zaquan gets on court


PETALING JAYA: Former doubles ace Tan Boon Heong and former national football team captain Zaquan Adha Abdul Radzak are expected to take the spotlight on the Tiga Saga Li-Ning Cup badminton tournament as they go head-to-head in a special friendly match today.

Joining them are other notable participants such as Cik Manggis, Acam, Mat Redho, Inpik Lewis, Dr. Bon, and Terrenceteo.

This tournament features three versus three categories – men’s Open (combined age below 120 years), Bakat Baru, and mixed amateur (with at least one female player and a maximum of one player with a Badminton Association of Malaysia ID).

Two categories – under-12 boys’ and girls’ singles, have been newly-introduced to unearth young badminton talents.

Over 140 teams have signed up to compete across the three stages of this tournament to date

The first leg will be held in Kepong, Kuala Lumpur tomorrow followed by the second stage at the MBPP Sports Centre in Relau, Penang from Aug 24-25.

The third stage is scheduled to take place at the 89 Arena in Klang, Selangor from Sept 7-8, where participants will fight for a spot in the finals at the Sunway Velocity Mall in Kuala Lumpur from Sept 21-22.

The prizes and rewards for this tournament are more generous than ever, with each stage offering over RM50,000 in total value.

The newly-crowned champions of the Open category will have the chance to take home a cash prize of RM10,000, along with products valued at RM12,000.
