FT kick their way to first Sukma football gold

MUKAH: Federal Territories got it right in their third attempt in the final to lift the boy's football gold in the Malaysia Games (Sukma).

The team stood resolute to beat Melaka 2-1 at the Mukah Stadium on Saturday (Aug 24).

They had lost twice in the finals against lost Pahang in 1994 and Perak in 2016.

FT’s goals were scored by Numan Hakim Rahman (18th minute) and Harith Imran Hairee (68th), while Melaka got their solitary goal from Mohd Farish Osman in the 52nd minute.

The game was marred by a scuffle when Melaka players attacked the match referee as they were unhappy with some of the decisions during the match.

But security officials managed to control the situation as Melaka ended the Games as silver medallist.
