KUALA LUMPUR: Arif Aiman Hanapi has hinted that he will not part ways with Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) and will continue to give his best in the Super League and also Asian Champions League Elite (ACLE) campaign.Arif helped his side to a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Shanghai Shenhua at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium on Tuesday.

Shenhua, who impressed in their 4-1 win over South Korean side Pohang Steelers last month, were given a rude awakening by the Southern Tigers in their den.

JDT started their ACLE campaign by holding another Chinese Super League champions Shanghai Port to a 2-2 draw last month.

Arif’s early strike in the 11th minute was his third goal in the ACLE and he was named man of the match for the second time.

The nippy winger has also outscored the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Sadio Mane, who have only poached a goal each so far for Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr in the competition.

“Honestly, I want to stay here for as long as I want, but I can’t be comfortable and I must make sure I continue to succeed,” said the 22-year-old, who also acknowledged the contributions of JDT owner Tunku Mahkota Ismail Sultan Ibrahim.

“For me, all matches are important whether it’s the local league or in Asia.

“I have to enjoy this moment because at a young age I’ve had to work hard and this is my dream because I know it’s not easy playing at the top level in Asia.

“I always tell myself to give my best for JDT and listen to the coaches and teammates because they help a lot to give me more confidence when I perform on the field.

“Being named the best player of the match certainly motivates me and I can’t be too comfortable with what I have achieved. On the other hand, there are many things to be done because in football there is always room for improvement.

“Before this I was injured and it affected my performance. The boss (Tunku Ismail) always encouraged me to do my best and that is why I am determined to stay at this club.

“I dedicate this victory to the supporters and appreciate the support of those present and I’m happy we managed to give them success.”

After two matches, JDT have moved to second spot in their group on four points. Gwangju are on top with six points, having won their first two games.

JDT will next take on top South Korean side Gwangju on Oct 22.
