PETALING JAYA: Let us keep this dream run going.

Jordan’s Ali Olwan wants his team to emerge as group winners after scoring in his team’s 2-1 win against South Korean side Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors in the AFC Champions League Two (ACL 2) at the Petaling Jaya Stadium on Wednesday

The Red Giants secured the three points after Harith Haikal and Ali put the team two goals up in quick succession in the 31st and 33rd minutes.

Jeonbuk managed to reduce the deficit just before half time as Kwan Chang-hoon scored in the 40th minute, but it wasn’t enough to catch up with Selangor.

The 24-year-old Olwan gave credit to the teamwork, adding that he hopes the Red Giants can maintain their form in the tournament.Selangor are now top of Group H with seven points while Jeonbuk are in second with six. Thai club Muangthong United have two points in third place and Cebu FC are last with one point.

“Of course, we hope to maintain our performance, we are now leading the group and that is thanks to the team that we have.

“Thanks to the coaching staff as well and hopefully we can make it to the next round of the competition,” he said.

Selangor will play Jeonbuk again in the ACL 2 on Nov 7 at the Jeonju World Cup Stadium in South Korea.

Head coach Nidzam Jamil said the match was a thrilling affair for the teams and fans who were in the stadium to watch the fixture.

“It was an interesting match to watch. I want to say congratulations to our players. They deserve the win because they have been working hard for the past two to three weeks,” he said.

“Despite some injuries and suspensions, it was a collective effort from all of us.”

Nidzam added that substitutions made in the second half was the turning point for the team, as the players maintained their energy and showed effort to find more goals.

“It is not easy to come in when the match’s tempo is so high and maintain the result that we have and try to score more goals. I’m happy,” added Nidzam.
