Kim Swee pleased with high-scoring strikers but goals conceded still a concern

PETALING JAYA: Sabah are on a roll and they want to keep their consistent showing going in every Super League match.

The Rhinos notched their third straight win in the league when they defeated Kedah 5-2 at the Likas Stadium on Wednesday to jump to third place with 23 points from 13 matches, just three points behind second-placed Selangor.

Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) are top with 34 points.

Sabah coach Datuk Ong Kim Swee has a reason to feel pleased with his strikers, who have scored 13 goals in three matches. They defeated Perak 4-2 and Penang 4-0 last month.

“It was a pretty good result but we didn’t have it easy as they controlled the game well and we failed to maintain the pace when we were leading before we struck the third and fourth goals,” said Kim Swee.

“We still have to improve as I’m not satisfied with the goals conceded.

“If you look at the number of goals scored from the three matches, we don’t rely on one person but all.

“This has certainly given us the advantage,” said Kim Swee, who added it was still too early to think about their position in the Super League.

“It’s still early and we are only in the middle of the season. To maintain or improve our position, we need to be consistent.”
