PETALING JAYA: Sabah are on a roll in the Super League.
In the last four league games, the Rhinos have trampled their opponents by scoring at least four goals in each match and their latest victims were Kelantan.
The side coached by Datuk Ong Kim Swee thrashed the east coast side 4-1 at the Likas Stadium in Kota Kinabalu yesterday.
Brazilian striker Joao Pedro (pic) starred with a double in the 16th and 45th minute, while the other goals were scored by winger Farhan Roslan (28th) and Brazilian centreback Gabriel Peres (60th).
Kelantan’s lone goal was scored by Fazrul Amir Md Zaman in the 27th minute.
Sabah had thrashed Kedah 5-2 (home, Oct 29), Penang 4-0 (away, Oct 25) and Perak 4-2 (away, Oct 19).
The manner of the victories delighted Kim Swee, as they showed character and determination from their last league defeat against Police 0-1 on Sept 21.
“It is rare. But I have to laud the commitment and effort from my boys. The consistency is good but we must not be lackadaisical. We have to keep this momentum and work on our weaknesses,” he said.
“We will give them a break to recover from the heavy schedule. We also have some injured players like Park (Tae-su) and Jafri (Firdaus Chew), so the international break comes at a good time for these players to return to full fitness.”
Sabah are now third in the league with 26 points from 14 games, just three points behind second-placed Selangor.
