PETALING JAYA: The venue for the Super League match between Perak and defending champions Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT), postponed to Nov 10, has been switched from the Manjung Municipal Council Stadium to the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium in Iskandar Puteri, Johor.
The Malaysian Football League (MFL) said Perak were asked to name an alternative venue following a safety risk for the high-profile match.
This is also to avoid any unwanted incidents from happening that can further derail the league’s schedule for this season.
“In response to the request by the MFL, Perak named Sultan Ibrahim Stadium as the venue for the postponed tie.
“Previously, two Perak FC-JDT matches on Aug 17 and Oct 5 had to be postponed due to heavy rain and the decision made this time is to ensure that the 2024-2025 Malaysia Cup draw can run smoothly as planned,” the MFL said in a statement.
Perak agreed for the intended match to be held at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium to ensure the season goes smoothly,” said a statement from the club.
The announcement was not well received by Perak fans especially those with season tickets as they wished the game to be held at their arena instead of going to Johor for a home game.
Some have even said the management were not strong enough to stand their ground and could have held the game at a nearer stadium instead of Johor.
But the management are trying their best to appease the fans by offering free transportation for the game.
“Perak offer free transportation to all supporters who want to go to Sultan Ibrahim Stadium this Sunday to watch and support our beloved squad. They can contact the Perak Secretariat directly.
“In addition, all previously postponed match ticket holders can redeem those tickets at the counter provided and our side will channel the information as soon as possible for the convenience of Perak supporters. “At the same time, all season pass holders are also allowed to enter the Sultan Ibrahim to watch the match.
“Perak apologise for the decision taken after examining the technical issues raised by the MFL and all the difficulties experienced by the supporters.”
