Three Semi-Pro League sides for Malaysia Cup

PETALING JAYA: Three A1 Semi-Pro League clubs will feature in this season’s Malaysia Cup, compared to last season’s two.

The three clubs that finished top three in the first round of the league are Melaka, Putrajaya Athletics and Kuala Lumpur Rovers, and they will be part of the draw for the Malaysia Cup tomorrow.

The other 13 teams will come from the Super League, with top eight teams qualifying automatically for the quarter-final, while the bottom five will be playing in the round of 16 with the A1 Semi-Pro League clubs.

The format of Unifi Piala Malaysia 2024-2025 remains with the 16 clubs that will participate in the competition starting with the round of 16.

The round of 16, quarter-finals and semi-finals will be played based on ‘home and away’ format same as the previous season.

According to the initial plan, the first match of round 16 Unifi Piala Malaysia is expected to start on Nov 20.

The teams that do not qualify for the quarter-final the cup will automatically compete in the MFL Challenge Cup 2024-2025.

Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) are the defending champions of the tournament after beating Terengganu 3-1 in the final at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil in December last year.
