PETALING JAYA: Selangor will have to do it the hard way in their bid to confirm a slot in the knockout round of the Asian Champions League 2 (ACL2) after a 1-2 defeat at the hands of Thailand's Muangthong United at the Petaling Jaya City Council Stadium (MBPJ) on Thursday (Nov 28) night.

Quentin Cheng had given Selangor the lead in the fifth minute but Muangthong United got the equaliser they wanted after the break.

Felicio Brown Forbes shot from close range in the 54th minute and gave no chance to Selangor goalkeeper Azim Al-Amin.

Selangor's failure to stop the attacking onslaught resulted in Muangthong United netting the winner in the 76th minute through another close-range attempt from Poramet Arjvirai.

Selangor slipped to third spot in Group H with their second defeat.

Selangor have seven points while Muangthong United moves to second spot with eight points.

Selangor, under new coach Katsuhito Kinoshi, will now need to beat Philippines side Cebu and hope group leader and Korean team Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors do not lose to Muangthong United in the final tie on Dec 5.
