Kedah deny issuing Super League withdrawal letter

ALOR SETAR: Kedah have denied that their football team have issued a letter stating their intention to withdraw from the Super League and switch to the A1 Semi-Pro League.

The club said in a statement that the management is seeking an apology from the party responsible for spreading the fake news as their actions are damaging the club’s reputation.

“All parties, including the mass media or journalists, should be sensitive in providing statements as to avoid spreading false information and creating a bad perception of the club,” the club added.

Earlier, Kedah interim head coach Victor Andrag had said that he hoped that rumours suggesting the team will be expelled from the Super League due to ongoing issues are untrue.

He said it would be a sad outcome if the Canaries were removed from the league, considering Kedah’s status as an elite team with a rich history in football.

“I hope this information is just a rumour and does not happen to Kedah, like what has occurred with other teams before,” he told reporters after the team edged Penang 1-0 in a Super League match at the Darul Aman Stadium on Wednesday.

Winger Sukhrob Nurulloev (pic) scored the winner in the 10th minute.

Commenting on the match, Victor said his players gave an energetic performance and showed determination to secure three valuable points.

He noted that despite the internal issues faced by the team, the players managed to stay focused on the game and ultimately clinched the win. — Bernama
